At Build with Purpose, we believe that nonprofit real estate projects can and should go beyond “bricks and sticks” to start to have an impact on the broader community. While this starts from making greener and healthier real estate projects, it extends to the way that nonprofit facilities connect with broader social, economic, environmental, and health initiatives in the surrounding community as well as more broadly on a regional and national basis. Build with Purpose is committed to helping partnering organizations forge these partnerships in an effort to realize healthier and more vibrant communities.
Garden State Schools Initiative
In 2010, Build with Purpose launched the Garden State Schools Initiative to assist charter schools with access to health initiatives such as: creating a community garden; switching to healthier lunch provider; and tapping into community health resources such as the YMCA’s NJ Partnership for Healthy Kids.
Solar for Nonprofits
Build with Purpose is helping nonprofits navigate the process of installing and financing solar panels through bulk power-purchase agreements.
The Energy Institute
In terms of making greener and more energy efficient communities, Build with Purpose launched the Energy Institute in 2008 to help nonprofits to access programs and resources for making their facility more energy efficient.
