About This Project

Background
After years of searching for a permanent home, Learning Community Charter School of Jersey City purchased the former home of Academy of St. Aloysius in 2009. With help from Build with Purpose, LCCS secured $6.5 million in financing to purchase and renovate the school. The Reinvestment Fund financed the project utilizing New Markets Tax Credits.

One of the first charter schools to open in New Jersey, LCCS opened in September 1997 with 98 students. After renting space for 10 years, their current 76,000 square foot facility provided enough space for the school to grow their enrollment to over 500 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
