Workshop: Creative Facility Options for Nonprofits:
How Nonprofits are Looking at Facilities, Sharing Spaces, and Financing the Facilities They Want
Description: Nonprofit leaders are encouraged to attend this workshop to hear about creative facility options for nonprofits.  Learn about the benefits of owning versus renting, renegotiating a lease, sharing space with another nonprofit and qualifying for financing and subsidies to buy a building or expand your facility.  This session is designed to offer useful information to financial as well as non-financial staff, so all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Webinar: A Look at Lease Renegotiations

In tough economic times, we’re all looking for ways to make ends meet. In this webinar, we’ll hear about the business and legal implications of lease renegotiation transactions and how to effectively plan and execute them from Andrew Zezas, SIOR, President & CEO of Real Estate Strategies Corporation, and Evan Glanz, Esq., Founder of E Glanz Associates. Topics will include: is there a right time to renegotiate your lease? What are your and the owner’s priorities? And what’s the best way to handle the negotiation? Andrew and Evan will offer suggestions on how to establish the right leasing terms for your organization and how to negotiate those terms with the owner of the space you’re renting.

Webinar: Tax Exempt Bond Financing

As a follow-up to our discussion on Qualified School Construction Bonds, Build with Purpose is hosting a webinar on Tax Exempt Bond Financing. With historically low rates, nonprofits should consider the benefits of refinancing or constructing/purchasing their facilities with this advantageous funding opportunity. During the webinar the following will be discussed:

  • What are Tax Exempt Bonds and how does an organization get them?
  • Who is buying these bonds? How do I find a buyer?
  • What are the risks?
  • What do buyers of tax exempt bonds look for?

Webinar: New Markets Tax Credits: What Nonprofits Need to Know
New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) is a financial product that many nonprofits have used to finance the development of various real estate projects. In this session READS, an industry leader in real estate development and finance, will work to demystify this complex program and explain how your organization can benefit from using NMTC. This webinar is geared to the end user, the “borrower”, and will focus on the general financial terms, borrowing process, limitations/risks of the program as well as the benefits.

During the webinar the following will be discussed:

  • Types of projects that benefit from NMTC (e.g. early care centers, schools, community facilities)
  • The financial benefits
  • Borrower terms and cost
  • Eligible communities

*The NMTC program is limited to commercial real estate and is not intended for residential development

Webinar: Solar 101 for Nonprofits

Informational webinar on how nonprofits can take advantage of solar energy. Discussion topics to include: overview of the NJ solar market, project financing, federal incentives, and the potential cost savings for different nonprofits.

Build with Purpose, a NJ-based nonprofit, is pleased to announce our new solar initiative designed to help organizations easily identify the viability of solar panels for their facility. We believe organizations with large electricity bills can achieve a real cost savings (30%) on their electric bills, and Build with Purpose is looking to competitively bid the financing and installation and to facilitate the process for participating groups.
